Area 1 - Merthyr Tydfil

Area 1, marked on the adjacent maps in blue, includes the following towns: Aberaman, Aberdare, Aberfan, Bargoed, Dowlais, Gurnos, Hirwaun, Merthyr Tydfil, Mountain Ash, Pentrebach, Rhymney, Tredegar, Treherbert and Troedyrhiw.

The choice of the three areas is due to the Glam Faith Wales project being initiated by the Chaplaincy to the University of Glamorgan. In May 2006, Merthyr Tydfil College became part of the University of Glamorgan. Area 1 resources are those closest to students studying there.
